Bed & Breakfast in the Maldives

Just mentioning the Maldives evokes images of the ultimate dream holiday with palm trees, pristine white beaches, crystal clear bright blue water and delicious food. On these tropical Indian Ocean islands, time slows down and you are pampered from start to finish. Why keep dreaming about it? Book a fabulous bed & breakfast in the Maldives and experience an amazing holiday!

Bed and Breakfast in Malé

Malé is the most densely populated island and is also the capital of the Maldives. A pleasant cultural outing to start with is a visit to the National Museum of the Maldives located in the former sultan’s palace. Another Malé highlight is the Friday Mosque with its golden dome. We recommend a visit to the fish market, which gets really busy in the afternoon. If you’d prefer some peace and quiet, go to the Jumhoree Maidan square, a green oasis of calm in the north of the island. From Malé, you can go on excursions to surrounding islands that are much more untouched and really stir that ‘bounty’ feeling.

Snorkelling and diving in the Maldives

The Maldives consist of some of most stunning coral islands in the world. Thanks to the clear water, the snorkelling is great here. But scuba diving is best if you’d like to become one with the brightly coloured fish, whale sharks, rays, turtles and coral reefs. There are many diving schools in the Maldives where you can earn your diving certificate. Go diving at sites like the wreck of the Maldive Victory at Hulhulé Island. If you’d like to see sharks in the flesh, make sure you go to South Malé Atoll. As a real treat, you can dive in underwater caves such as the Vaadhoo caves and the Velassaru caves! The very best coral reefs are found at Banana Reef at North Malé Atoll and around the island of Baa Atoll. Here, the reefs are unspoilt and not overrun by tourists. Something totally unique is the underwater post office on Mele Island, also known as Hideaway Island. This post office is operated under the water by divers!

Bed and Breakfast on Ari Atoll

South Malé Atoll consists of a number of islands, including Maafushi, Guraidhoo and Gulhi. Visit spots like the blissful Guraidhoo lagoon or the boatyard at the fishing village on Gulhi. Reethi Beach is an absolutely gorgeous atoll. There are few tourists here, but you’ll find virgin jungle and – of course – stunning coral reefs. On Rahdoo Atoll, you can stay in lovely bed & breakfasts, and likewise on Ari Atoll. A somewhat larger island is Meeru. It offers a wide range of water sports opportunities and bathing is great here thanks to the idyllic lagoon. If you’d like to do something other than diving or snorkelling, take a cruise on a dhoni, a traditional sailing boat. Who knows, you might even encounter dolphins on the way! Make a point of interacting with the local population on the more remote islands to learn more about the genuine Maldivian lifestyle. As a cultural excursion, we recommend a visit to the ancient Buddhist ruins on the island of Thoddoo.
