On the banks of the river Vecht, within the tranquil and picturesque setting of a listed mediëval moated castle, thatched farm, coach-house and horse stable surrounded by meadows and enclosed by a tree-lined avenue. The former horse stable has been lovingly restored and tastefully converted into a charming cottage home with an array of stylish objects collected by the lady of the house. The flowergarden and a little orchard, together with the warm welcome of the host, make this the ideal resting... place between Utrecht and Amsterdam.

Nothing was ever too much for our charming host, Godelief, who did everything... to ensure our stay was a truly memorable experience. The room was so cosy, delightfully furnished, well-equipped with attention to small detail and the the bathroom was positively luxurious! Godelief suggested places we could visit within easy reach and we really enjoyed chatting to her about local history, tradition and culture. We think of her now as a special friend and can't wait to enjoy another return visit soon!

If you want to stay in Amsterdam, stay in Amsterdam, but if you want... to experience true Dutch life in an absolutely beautiful setting, you cannot go wrong with BnB Breukelen. We stayed for 10 days during tulip season and used a combination of rental car and train via the Breukelen station. Highly, highly recommend this BnB!
