The mineral rich soil soaked in the Mediterranean sunlight produces a rich harvest of olives and truffles infused with flavor. The olive is the star of most Provencal dishes, combined with the tomatoes, garlic and goats cheese the region is famous for. Our hosts at Bed and Breakfast Provence will be happy to provide you with a delicious and home-cooked breakfast served to you during your stay.
One of the biggest draws to Provence is of course it's delicious wines. The oldest wine producing region in France, it is famous for it's Rose in particular. The mistral winds coming off the Mediterranean Sea keep the vineyards fresh and dry and some say the lavender that flourishes in the rocky terrain influences the flavours of the grapes. Ask your Bed and Breakfast Provence hosts for insider tips on where to take a tour of one of the fabulous vineyards in the area.
Sense of History
This area on the sea has been invaded and fought over since Roman times and the evidence of the various conquests is evident throughout the region. From Greek amphitheaters to medieval castles, Provence is rich with historical sites. Visit the Paleis des Papes in Avignon which is one of the most important medieval gothic buildings in Europe, or the Chateau d'if, a 16th century castle in the middle of the sea off the coast of Marseille.
A Weekend Break by the Sea
No weekend break at a Bed and Breakfast Provence would be complete without a trip to some of the best beaches on the Mediterranean. From the Cote d'Azur to the upscale St Tropez there will be plenty of opportunities to relax in the sun during your weekend break in the French Riviera.
