The "Alpenglühn Apartments" (adults only) offer breathtaking views of the Bavarian Alps. Each apartment features a modern color scheme and includes a cozy seating area with a TV, as well as a fully equipped kitchen (with the exception of the "Large Double Room"). The town of Berchtesgaden is situated right next to the Watzmann, Germany's third-highest mountain. Berchtesgaden National Park is popular with Nordic walkers and hikers. The Austrian city of Salzburg—famous as the birthplace of Mozart—can be reached via a 120-minute drive across the German-Austrian border. Lake Chiemsee is a 40-minute drive away via the A8 motorway. Berchtesgaden is a recognized health and holiday resort; consequently, a visitor's tax (often referred to as *Kurtaxe*) is charged.
