Mama Alice wins prestigious charity-award

Mama Alice

Fréderique Kallen, founder of Mama Alice, amidst street kids in Peru.

Last month we called upon our readers to support MamaAlice in its participation in a prestigious international competition for charities. Turns out this was not in vain. Last week the announcement came that Fréderique Kallen, the Dutch founder of Mama Alice, won the competition!

The finale took place on 2 and 3 November in Qatar. Here, Fréderique competed against Nick Eastcott (UK) and Sue van Shreven (New-Zealand). Fréderique will receive a 100,000 pound cheque. She will invest it in a beautiful project: setting up a youth line in Peru.

Questions and problems
Fréderique convinced the jury of the necessity of her ‘Chat and Call’ project. Via such a youth line, Mama Alice can help youngsters via telephone and e-mail, with questions and problems. With this, the foundation can also expand its education program. Due to this faster, more efficient and cheaper way of communication, the foundation can help hundreds of thousands of children.

Bedandbreakfast.eu supports Mama Alice
The Mama Alice Foundation has been active in Ayacucho, Peru since 2005. Fréderique Kallen and her team of 40 staff members support about 800 street kids in Peru. Among other things they offer the children day care, education, medical care and guidance in getting a place of their own. Out of admiration for the project, Bedandbreakfast.eu sponsors Mama Alice. From each year subscription on Bedandbreakfast.eu, one euro goes to the foundation.
