Since the apartment contains many valuable items, I ask all guests to provide a €400 security deposit upon check-in (in addition to the full rental payment of CASH ONLY IN EURO CURRENCY ONLY! BOTH PAYMENTS!). Essentially, this works just like a hotel: they place a hold on your credit card to cover potential damages, whereas I accept cash instead. You will be met by a friend of mine who lives nearby. She will ask you to sign a document outlining the procedure for covering any damages that might occur. She will hold onto the cash, and upon your departure—when you return the keys—she will inspect the apartment. If everything is in order, she will return the deposit to you. If anything is broken or damaged, the cost of the damage will be calculated and deducted from the deposit. All these terms will be set out in writing, and you will need to sign the document upon arrival. These measures are taken to ensure the preservation of this luxury apartment.
