Why not have it all? Stay in Auckland and relax like you are in the Coromandel. Our place has a north facing aspect overlooking the Aitken Reserve with a two minutes walk to Waiake Beach - one of the best swimmable beaches in Auckland. It is scenic, it has the Torbay Sailing Club, and there are spots that are safe for swimming with children. There is bus stop close to the property which can take you into the city in 40 minutes. Local shops at Torbay offer all the amenities required, cafes, restaurants. The local Burger Burger offers street food and ice cream. For longer walks consider the low tide for a stroll along the cost. Waiake Beach is local gem. It is hilarious that most Aucklanders actually don't know where its. Good for you - it isn't overrun, and the community is very much local and close-nit. Many neighbours live hear because they love the ocean and this beach in particular, and they go swimming, sailing, or boarding even in winter times.
