We begin our journey at the Northern end of the Romantic Road in hip and cosmopolitan W\u00fcrzburg. This student town on the River Main is surrounded by verdant vineyards and combines high cuisine with culture and beautiful landscapes. The <\/span>W\u00fcrzburg Residence<\/span> is one of the most important castles in Europe and is known for having the largest continuous fresco in the world. You can also visit the Falcon House, the Gothic Marienkapelle and the Marienberg Fortress. Special tip: Drink a \u201cSchoppen\u201d on the Old Main Bridge at sunset.<\/span><\/p>\n

The next stop on our German road trip takes us to Tauberbischofsheim. The historic old town has partially preserved city walls adorned with typical Franconian half-timbered buildings, narrow streets, chapels and a resplendent market square with its neo-Gothic town hall. The Kurmainzisches Schloss, the Schlossplatzbrunnen and the T\u00fcrmersturm are landmarks of the city and draw visitors from far and wide, and the charming landscape of the lovely Tauber Valley offers a wide range of opportunities for sports enthusiasts, hikers and cyclists.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our driving route now takes up to this enchanting town, the highlight of which is its tranquil old town complete with historic houses, winding streets and small waterways. The many restaurants and caf\u00e9s around the Marienbrunnen offer a special atmosphere and a view of the old town hall. The 13th-century Schmalzturm, affectionately called the “Beautiful Tower” by locals, is the gateway to the main square. While away the evening hours strolling along the weir.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The most famous photo op is the Pl\u00f6nlein, a familiar looking fork in the road. A special picturesque journey: Let yourself be carried away to the Middle Ages by taking a night watchman tour in the twilight.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cozy, quaint, romantic – is how the city of Augsburg is fondly described by the locals.\u00a0<\/span>In addition to the beautiful old town, the city is known for the Augsburger Puppenkiste, the most famous marionette theatre in the world and the Fuggerei, the oldest social settlement in the world. Sights also include the golden hall in the town hall, the old city wall and the Roman museum. Treat yourself to a picnic in the botanical garden, the ideal place to relax and admire the German landscape.<\/span><\/p>\n

We end our expedition in the dream scenery around F\u00fcssen, where the world-famous Neuschwanstein Castle is the crowning glory of the Romantic Road. In addition to a visit to the castle itself, it is worth taking a short hike to the Marienbr\u00fccke, where you have the most beautiful view of the ultimate fairytale castle. F\u00fcssen is located directly on the Forggensee, which offers numerous swimming opportunities and a wide variety of water sports. There are also various hiking and cycling tours in the area with fantastic views.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
