    Imperial Castle

    The city played a pivotal role in the Third Reich with the Nazi Party Rally Grounds being here. The infamous propaganda rallies took place between 1923 and 1938 and their history is documented at the old grounds, now a museum. The city also hosted the Nuremberg Trials in 1945-1946, where the political and military leaders of Nazi Germany were prosecuted for war crimes following the Holocaust. Still a working courthouse, the events that took place in courtroom 600 were influential in shaping the development of international law and many improvements in human rights.
