Oslo: stylish and cosy

Oslo is a typical European capital, with stately buildings and lots of shops. Culture and history in Norway

Here you find the town of Tromsø, ‘Paris of the North’, where the annual Northern light festival takes place. From here you can travel further, even to the Arctic Circle.

Nature in Norway

Norway has widespread pine forests and many lakes. In the central part of the country you find the highest mountains and the largest glacier of the European mainland, the Jostedalsbreen. The further North you travel, the rougher the landscape and the scarcer the vegetation gets. During midsummer nights, the sun does not set in the far North, like in Bodo, Svolvaer, Hammerfest, the North Cape and Spitsbergen. In the northernmost towns, such as Kjøllerfjord and Kirkenes you can regularly view the mysterious Northern Light.

Recreation in Norway

There is no lack of marked hiking routes in the many protected nature parks- and reserves of Norway. Beautiful hiking areas are – among others - Jotunheimen and Hardangervidda. This is also a perfect recreation country for cyclists, horsemen and water sports fans. You can go spectacular rafting, canoeing or sailing on the numerous lakes and rivers. Besides, there are marked skiing routes throughout the country, often lighted at night. Some of the popular ski regions include:  Bjorli, Eikedalen, Geilo, Hemsedal, Oppdal, Valdres and Voss.
