Running a sustainable business is an unstoppable trend and this can also be seen with B&Bs. The list of European B&Bs with an ecolabel is steadily growing. Nice to know, if you like going on a trip environmentally aware.
To be allowed to use an ecolabel, an entrepreneur has to take several sustainability measures. Known international ecolabels are the Green Key, Green Globe or the EU Ecolabel. For guests, these ecolabels prove that the owner manages his business environmentally aware.
B&B: a sustainable choice
Staying in a bed and breakfast is a sustainable choice anyhow. The guest accommodations are often arranged in an existing property, so no new building had to be built for it. A lot of B&B owners already operate environmentally aware, for example, by using an energy-saving high efficiency boiler, a water-saving shower head and low-energy light bulbs. Moreover, they often serve (biological) local products at breakfast.
